This late '60s Jerry Reed song has been covered by many, but most people omit his tasty licks. I'm not too much of a fingerpicker but it's a beautiful song.


Note to Elvis fans : The vocal melody is a combination of Reed's dissonant croon and Cash's dives. The gospel arrangement Elvis did with The Imperials has a vastly different chorus.

@pianomanhome Drop D means tuning the lower E string down to D. You can then play it in a variety of ways. Here, I play the riff and then D, G A for the verse, and then a chorded version of the riff -which is just D5>C/D>C>D-. In the chorus it's D, G, Fm7, Bm7, G, A. D, G, Fm7, Bm7, D , A and back to the riff.

I'd like to see a re-make of this by you. The video is jumpy and a little nervous from you. But regardless.... you still are the best version i've found of this song. ... dude the timing, the playing and the singing are absolutely brilliant and on the right track.
