@Sismiques DOT approved doesn't mean jack. All DOT approved means is that if you put it on your car it won't harm your car. DOT approved has nothign to do withtraffic laws genious. Look up things to find the right answers before youy redistribute misinformation.

i removed my hids because they are to bright for highway driving... caused my pupils to close up making seeing farther down the road impossible... they must only be used in projectors period....

The difference is that you have an HID CONVERSION KIT installed. The reflective lenses in your headlights dazzle oncoming traffic. The HID lights you are referring to on Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Land Rover, Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, etc. are factory installed and are DOT approved. They have projectors in the headlight lenses which do not scatter the light pattern.
HID Conversion Kits are illegal in every state in the US + other countries. I had them in my car for about a year until I failed inspection.
