Some years ago, a brazilian tourists tried to smuggle drugs inside a surfing board.
The airport police catched. The sentence: Death.
Chewing gum is banned in that country, and they severely punish you for actions such as throwing a candy wrapper on the streets.
After all they sentenced to death all their corrupt politicians and criminals.
I clarify, I don't agree with those kind of policies, neither with debauchery.

@717jonpaul Oh, he wasn't "innocent," per se, but the punishment didn't fit the crime. He was trying to smuggle hashish out of Turkey, so he did commit a crime. He should have been extradited to the US and served his time and that would have been the end of it. I've worked alongside ex-felons who committed worse crimes than he did. Those Turkish bastards used him as a scapegoat for all of THEIR OWN social ills.
