This is segment 5 of 8 of a video about turning a sewing kit. This project came from an article in BH&G WOOD magazine, either the Aug. 1994 issue or the Nov. 1996 issue. I can't tell from the on-line index description which article it was and I no longer have the magazine.
Hi, Gareth:
The Golden Mean, or Golden Ratio, is a relationship that is found in nature and architecture that has proven to be pleasing to the human eye. It can be used a relationship between the length and width (or height) of components or, as in this case, the relative length of adjacent components. A Google search for either term (mean or ratio) will turn up lots of information.
Take care
Bob
