  • I think this is a fool work. I have 2 Scolpitrice CNC and a 5 axis CNC. For this work is much better the machinig center. And the tool is not right!

  • Yep, we do a lot of fools work and have lots of fun doing it. Take care, KBR

  • copy carving is the dogs, its cheaper than cnc although fast itd take a long time to make it a worthwhile permanent investment and its way better than templates as large radiusing, siloed controls, contours are non achievable and have to be done by hand, thanks v much for posting this

  • Yeah, we love our copy carver. After the jigging and different shapes for each body are worked out the results are wonderful. It can rough carve two tops every 15 min. Our cnc does an even better job (smoother more finished surface) but the programing time is slow. I will post some views of that process someday....our digitizer arm is really cool. KBR

  • Not really. When we got the copy carver, we had about a dozen router bits made. THe bits are roughly 3/4" wide and rounded on the bottom. The tracing bit is the same shape, but smooth.

The cutters are high speed steel and we hand sharpen them before each batch (usually 8 to 12 bodies) One bit is right and the other is left handed. The rotation of the blade is also right and left. This balances the cutting resistance and make it easy and safe to operate.

    KBR

  • @ssonico Good luck investing your time into the modelling and programming. Copy carving has very little setup time for different copies. Whilst CNC has its benefits, you are completely ignoring those of copy carving.

  • NIce, I've just started building electric guitars with a copy carver - who built your copy carver?

  • "terminado apagar el motor" ha ha ;)

  • You must go through a lot of router blades.
