i would love to meet Julia Butterfly and be a part of her community to continue this work...i know i'm already part of the community and the 'work' on some level, but i want to be part of something more tangible since i've been out of the loop for a while.
First I'll say, that tree sitting is not my cup of tea. My niche for forest management fill a different role of action. But here's a question ...
What does a tree sitter do to protect a tree if it should not be climbed ??
GOOGLE THIS:
mdvaden + redwood climbing canopy trails
Should be the first search result. Now .. the page itself presents a question. If the answer was that less climbing should occur, what action would tree sitters take as an alternative?
our three dimensional light based reality exists because of love, and julia butterfly hill is a beautiful, wonderful goddess who embodies love. thanks julia! you rock...
Long-enough ago and far enough away, I too thought she was...kinda silly doing what she did. But life, love -- context -- give us much. Eventually, I did meet her, couldn't deny the intention, thought -- and above all, Love -- in this good, good person. Life is so much bigger than any one beginning...I am glad for her path, even if it isn't quite my own!
Ever stop to think that it may have been recycled lumber that was going to be thrown out by someone?? Im sure shes a smart lady and thinks about that kind of stuff before taking on such a protest project.
Don't be so sure...anyone willing to sit in a tree for 2 years is just plain stupid. The fact that she hasn't though of the negative stereotype that this conveys twards the green movement also shows a lack of strategy. The shear waste of her own resources that could have been used to save trees..how much could she have earned to purchase land rather then attempt to gain the propaganda spot light buy he stunt? She made a mockery of the green movement..She was a typical "tree hugging nutcase"
