@CapTainBuckAHOE - Assuming you're serious and not about to flame me as being a know-it-all for my response, I think the 1st part is reminiscent of a former lover (or possibly an ongoing lover) where the relationship didn't quite work out. The judgment is being all alone w/ your thoughts. The mistakes in the past are catching up to the protagonist, which he sees thru "a spyglass on the furthest coast." (It's easier to look across time at yourself & see the mistakes you made when it's too late.)

One of my favorite Iron & Wine songs. The lyrics are so good: "Tell me dear, do you think of me, at a drop of rain..." and then, "judgment comes when I'm all alone, like a spy glass on the furthest coast, favored now that it's left behind..." How true.
How did you get these?
