Something everyone sems to have overlooked is the medical side of things. Cholera, typhoid, toberculosas, aids, hepatitis etc. As a country we have a RIGHT to protect our borders. This might not be the best way but, if we believe what we hear, detention in Auistralia is 100 times better than what they are running away from in their original country. .... and everything they get here is paid for by AUSTRALIAN taxpayers..Its no that bad and if it is then keep on sailing to En Zed

@NSW2101 about 3 percent of all asylum seekers that come to australia arrive by boat, inquiries showing that these 3 percent are the poorest and most desperate. Also, i laughed at your suggestion that muslim asylum seekers travel 2 australia 2 blow shit up. the reason they don't stop in malay or indo is because both countries have a poor history of human right abuse (as well as the fact that asylum seekers may be "foreign", but not stupid, australia is much more comfortable) ... racist idiot

The majority of so called asylum seekers are quite predictable.. If Australia were a poor third world nation would they actually be coming here ?? Ask Sweden the same question?

BTW- Just to sum up Muslim asylum seekers pass through both Malaysia *AND* Indonesia to cross treacherous waters to get to Christian Australia !!!

@jet1231982 The aborigines can take it up with the english. Do you REALLY believe that people WANTED to come to Australia in the 1800s? Refugees should stay in their own countries OTHERWISE people in the countries they are running to end up as REFUGEES and have to leave for somewhere else as over crowding crime and welfare fines take their toll and wages are lowered and the cost of everything goes up.
