Change is what Americans expected and wanted. Look at the wide difference between the 1954 Chevy and the 1955. They made you feel like you made a big mistake when you bought the 54. Today cars all look the same...basically. It's not about looks, it's about technology. In the 50s, it was "Dyna-flo", "Fluid Drive" , "Cushion Air Suspension" and "Rocket 88"..all terms that meant absolutely nothing when it came to technology but everything when it came to a guillable public.
@GTech006 not if you look at the changes they did from year to year. You would buy a 55 chevy and the 56's the following year would look diff. then a year later the 57's would look diff then the 56's.
this the era the pissed a lot of people off when they bought a car, because it would already be outdated by next year since car companies changed the styling every single year just about.
@TheLizardKing1967 Mesahigh's got a point--you look at the '57 Lincoln compared to the '56 (which was an award-winning design), and you wonder what the heck happened! We won't even talk about the '58-'60' models.
