My take on Mammut's refreshed Ultimate Pro Jacket. I've been wanting this jacket for over a year to replace my Mammut Clime from 2006 which I wore out recently. The Mammut Ultimate windstopper has been around for a long time and was originally a fleece windstopper-similar to the North Face Denali/Sentinal during the 1990s. This year Mammut has improved the Ultimate by making it lighter, warmer, more weatherproof, more pack-able. However, the jacket does not have armpit ventilation zips, it does not have a 2-way belay zip, the sleeves are not articulated, and the front pockets are too low to access while wearing a backpack or climbing harness. The jacket, whiles very warm, is not ver breathable and is best used as a winter casual or base camp dinner jacket. For those looking for a more suitable active friendly jacket check out the Mammut Ultimate Advanced that has armpit vent zips and a belay zip at $250 or the Mammut Brisk at $179. The Ultimate Hoody is always a good option and over the years have accompanied this Ultimate Pro Windstopper as a hooded version w/ pit zips, belay zip, and appropriately placed pockets that accomodate a hipbelt and harness.
@olaf2046 Oh ok dude! And I thought it was just cold in your neighborhood. If you think of building yourself a trademark what about the classic "ahem", "butam" or "ohye"?

@SuperSupersnooper It was really cold that day. It was 22 degrees F and windy. The river behind me was frozen and I'm doing the review wearing not much. So I didn't have time to stop for Kleenex and they are no leaves on the trees to grab and snort into. Life can be tough sometimes away from the computer. What can I say.
