  • i think everyone should stop arguing and just enjoy watching people dance

  • You *do* realize the French man that was speaking is a choreographer *hired* by the Marinsky to choreograph for them, right? He didn't "go to Russia and tell his own rules", he was paid by the Russian balletmasters to do so. He was also talking about the very real fact that a ballet career ends early. Most females are too injured to dance by age 40, those who continue risk injury by dancing at an age when their bones are becoming brittle. There are exceptions to every rule, obviously.

  • who is the dancer at 2:10?

  • haha at around 4:55, she is just following the girl in front of her

  • I love Alina Somova!!! -3-3-3

  • @xSugarplum Maya Plisetskaya danced the dying swan when she was far far older than 40, just sayin. I know not everyone does but DANG she must LOVE to dance to endure it for soooo many years. Cuddos Maya :]

  • @dancer4freakinlife who's Jessica Alba? u mean american dumb hollywood bimbo?

  • @xSugarplum

I forgot something else. In the US it is now becoming more common for girls to start later between 10-12, as to prevent burnout and to insure good health. This means that they can possibly dance longer. It also takes about ten years for a girl tmake it to soloist. Many companies also won't take a girl if she hasn't finished high school. This translates to a girl being at least 30 years old before she makes soloist and prima ballerina occurs after the 30th birthday!

A few years ago there was a special on the French ballet. In the special it stated that the men danced until about 45 years of age while the women stopped at 40-42, as they wanted to have children. Now, the standard is beginning to change. Although the younger girls are quick, more flexible and have better technique due to the development, the older ballerinas are considered to be more graceful and can express emotions. Therefore, the French standard is obsolete.

  • I think Alina looks a lot like Jessica Alba

  • Alina's legs go everywhere. I know she's young here, so if she can get them under control, she could be great.

  • @sushanne2002 I think it is on amazon and ebay now but I got it from first run features.
