Mickey Baker, a veteran studio guitarist best known for the hit "Love Is Strange" that he had as half of Mickey and Sylvia has long been a very versatile player. Tiring of commercial work, in the mid-'70s he went to Europe where he explored his roots in blues, jazz, and rock & roll. This intriguing CD finds Baker (who is joined on some numbers by acoustic guitarist Stefan Grossman, bassist Alex Sanders, and drummer Martin Drew) in London, playing mostly blues with a few nods towards his other musical interests. The mostly instrumental music holds one's interest and shows that Baker was a diverse and talented guitarist who had something of his own to offer the music world.
This is nice but I have a copy of his jazz guitar book1 and I've now listened to 3 recordings and do not hear any of those extremely beautiful chords that are in that book . does anyone know where he is actually using those kind of chords?

Mickey Baker is one of the unsung greats. One of those guys, like Phil Upchurch, who can play blues, but also have jazz chops.
