Welcome onboard Boeing 737-800. This is short, domestic flight (NO280) operated by Neos. We depart from Hurghada in Egypt (HEGN). Our destination today is Marsa El Alam (HEMA). In Marsa Alam we expect the most common approach - VOR/DME on runway 33. This movie shows all significant stages of flight beginning from cruising altitude (which is 17,000ft during this flight) to landing. Air traffic control is also provided. Hope you enjoy this flight! See also part2.

  • when do you turn on VOR LOC? Why at that moment? I don't know. Can you explain me?

  • @timflightx When you use LNAV or HDG mode, you can press VOR LOC button. In this case VOR LOC mode will be armed, but not active. LNAV or HDG mode will be active until plane is on intercept hdg (VOR, LOC). Then VOR LOC will be your active lateral mode. For example, if you're flying hdg 350, and ATC gives you vectors: turn left heading 270 to intercept localizer (LOCALIZER course : 275), you can use HDG mode to turn to hdg 270 and armed VOR LOC mode, which will be activated automatically later.

  • Where did you get a working FMS? I've been looking for one forever. I trained using the FMS in a king air 200 in real life and wanted to use it in FSX could you please help?

  • It's part of PMDG 737 project.

  • what kind of ATC voice did you use..?

  • That works fine with most common 3 degrees glide slope.

  • In order to keep adequate rate of descent before reaching final approach fix (FAF), follow figures published on the approach charts, using VNAV or V/S. At final descent use APP mode (ILS approach) or V/S starting descent with your prefigured rate of descent. You can easly calculate it in this way: divide ground speed by 2, add zero, and it will be your rate of descent in FAF (120kt/2=60(0)fpm). Watch your HSI, vertical mode trend vector, PAPI lights and make corrections.

  • Hi! VOR/DME approach is not VFR approach, it's IFR, the same as ILS, NDB, visual approach etc. If you're making ILS approach follow the localizer in order to centerline the runway. In case of VOR follow specified radial etc. In case of approach with offset there is no magic tip - you have to fly with visual reference.

  • dUDE HOW DO WE LINE UP WITH THE RUNWAY IN VFR APPROACH AND WHAT WOULD BE THE RATE OF DESCENT?

  • could u tell wat all landings can be performed in FS? for eg, ILS, VOR etc???
