Check out Damien Marley and Nas' newest album "Distant Relatives", The Roots "How We Got Over", Jean Grae, and Reflection Eternal (Hi-Tek and Talib Kweli) Revolutions Per Minute. Just a few of the most recent hip hop albums that are not the step n fetchit quality of the artists who make it to the radio.

Real talk man...sadly money talks and will make people do some foul shit to make it. And not so much as to defend them but rap is a job and like the hard core businessman your gona do what you have to to climb to the top and make more money. Look at rappers such as Master P he would rap about drug dealing and kill and shit but now look at him.

There is positive "rap" but it's underground and people wont want to listen to it because you have to actually listen to what's being said in it. But I do agree with what you're talking about on the subject of why sign on to something if you don't think its positive, why listen to people being killed or murdered for no reason and think it's "cool"
