sorry I know that PEACE is spelled wrong (Piece) and it says girls instead of girl.
THE STORY:
ANNANDALE, Minn. (WCCO) A two-car collision killed a Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted High School senior and critically injured two other students Wednesday evening. Driver not badly hurt.
The crash happened around 6 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 6 and Highway 55 near Annandale, Minn.
Four students were coming back from watching a section track meet. Their car had stopped at a stop sign on County Road 6 and then was broadsided by a pickup truck headed east on Highway 55.
Madeysen Kleve, 18, a passenger in the car, was killed in the crash. She was an honor student set to graduate this Sunday and a candidate for Howard Lake Royalty.
Two other students in the car were seriously injured. Kacie Carlsted, 18, is in serious condition at St. Cloud Hospital. She is the valedictorian of her senior class. Mitchell Bayerl is in critical, but stable condition at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He is the salutatorian of the senior class.
Brie Barfknecht, the 17-year-old driver of the car, had minor injuries. Mitch was ejected out of the car during the crash. The other 3 were all wearing seatbelts.
For Madeysen Kleve's parents, instead of getting ready for graduation they are planning a funeral. They say it's hard to believe their little girl is gone.
"She had such a soft heart," said her mother Julie Kleve. "She was the perfect daughter. She was beautiful, she was a good kid, she loved her family and her friends, she had so many friends."
"She was a good kid. I miss her already. I just want to hold her," her father, Dan Kleve said crying. "She could light up the room with that smile -- she'd light the place up. Just a beautiful kid, not a problem kid."
It was Madeysen Kleve's friend, Brie, who was driving.
"Brie just looked at me and said 'I'm sorry.' I said 'Brie, I love you,'" said Julie Kleve.
Madeysen, also known as Madey, was an honor student who wanted to go to Mankato and take up nursing. The senior also had many other hobbies.
"She liked to color, she loved to take pictures, and bowling," said her mother.
The Kleve's say they wish they could hold their daughter one more time.
"Kiss your kids and just kiss them one more time. Tell them you love them, do whatever you can do. They're not gonna be around for ever," said Dan Kleve.
"You just don't know when they'll be gone" said Julie Kleve.
Three people in the truck that struck the students' car, including the driver, had non-life threatening injuries.
Counselors were at the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted High School high school on Thursday to help students.
