  • That's the most likely theory.

    Romantics I guess will always want to believe it was Anne herself. :)

  • I guess it's like 'Greensleeves' which many music historians insist was NOT written by Henry VIII as some believe. The 'style' or music genre did not exist in Henry's time (rather like Rap or Hip Hop was unheard of in the mid-1950's Rock n' Roll era).

  • no one knows for sure if she wrote it, it was probably written after her death

  • It was the tragic Anne Boleyn was it not? I read somewhere she wrote it the night before she was beheaded.

    Very fine version. :)

  • Great rendition. I think it's worth mentioning who the author of the song actually was though, who wasn't Shakespeare.
