Hi there - I'm so sorry to hear about your cancer and chemo. You were doing so well and it's so cruel to have such a serious illness stop all your progress. Fighting cancer it is even more important to eat really well. You tube doesn't allow links but search for Otto Warburg and sugar and cancer and you may never eat a grain of sugar again. I know I wouldn't if I were ever diagnosed.

Good luck fighting the Big C. Zoe x

  • Hi. Zoe. I'd just like 2 say thank u so much 4 all ur work. I was so happy when I was turnd on 2 ur prog bcos it just confirmd 4 me my good eatg habits. When I'm good I'm really good. But I can b pretty bad 2. I tried phase 1 & all that meant 4 me was cuttg out fruits & nuts. I lost 7 1/2lbs in 3 days. I have repeated phase 1 often but only succeeded in losing 3lbs each subsequent time. Rite now I am having chemo 4 colorectol cancer & have gaind 2 1/2 stones instead of losing.

  • Thanks for getting back to be so quickly- I'll definitely take a look at the journal. Love the book-it's packed full of information yet written in such a simple manner. My friend at work is ordering the recipe book as I speak.

  • Hi there - many thanks for your kind words. My research suggests that sweeteners do have a similar effect to sugar - how can the body tell the difference when insulin response is so rapid?

Check out this journal: "The effect of artificial sweetener on insulin secretion. Hormone & Metabolic Research. (1987) Liang, Maier, Steinbach, Lalic, Pfeiffer.

    That confirms it for me!

Good luck with your attack on Candida and Hypoglycaemia - Phase 1 of The Harcombe Diet is designed for just that!

  • Hi Zoe, I bought your book and it made a lot of sense to me. I am not overweight at 9stone 3 and 5ft 4 but I do suffer from candida and food intolerance which has resulted in ibs among other ailments.I was wondering whether eating sweetners has the same effect on your body as eating sugar? I've heard that sweetners trick your body into thinking you have consumed sugar and raise your blood sugar level. Is there any truth in this?I know that you don't advocate using processed foods.
