Porting and Polishing 2 Strokes. How to chamfer a port window on a 2 stroke. Using a right angle tool for porting makes chamfering the port opening on a 2 stroke fairly easy. Here is a quick technique for porting to ease the transition of the piston ring into and out of the port opening to the combustion chamber. Tips from CC Specialty Tools online @(ccspecialtytool.com)

hey man, nice vids.. one question slightly off topic, but you will know.. Why do people cut part of the skirting out of the bottom of a piston and grind it curved?

    cheers

this is the question that I have answered below

cont).Modifications to the piston skirt can also decrease weight of the piston, change structural integrity, change thrust/load, affect piston rock, alter crank clearance with the botom of the skirt on short stroke setups, slightly alter pumping characteristics of the crank case, it can be used to boost flow on small 2 strokes at BDC, better direct flow to the transfers, so on and so forth. You get the idea, it can change a lot, for the better if utilized correctly. Thanks for the question

in general the purpose is to let the intake open sooner and longer in the cycle, since the intake is opened and closed by the bottom of the piston, in particular on piston ported 2 strokes. More air/fuel=more power. You will also see some pistons with holes cut in the side(or divot type indentations) to better utilize boost ports or transfers. Modifications to 2 strokes, like changing from a piston ported setup to reed block controled intake, can also benefit from piston skirt modification(cont.
