GPU fluid simulation - smoke

During my time at NVIDIA I wrote a 3D Navier-Stokes fluid solver that runs entirely on the GPU. Fluid solvers are used to generate realistic, physically-based animations of water and smoke. Typically it takes several minutes or hours to generate each frame of animation, but by making some minor compromises in visual quality and taking advantage of the GPU's parallelism and bandwidth the solver is fast enough for real-time applications (e.g., around 120-180 frames per second at 64x64x128 on a GeForce 8800 GTX).

This particular simulation appeared in NVIDIA's "Smoke in a Box" demo.

@metamurk it doesn't even have PhysX.. except I just found out that I don't need to overclock my GPU to make it faster.. I downgraded from windows 7 ultimate 64bit to windows xp pro 32bit and I get like a 50% framerate increase in Crysis. I can actually max out the game totally on an ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics card. (max settings possible.) (4XAA) (1440x900 res) (very high graphics settings) (including shadows and clouds) (with no crash.) (about 15-20FPS maxed out.) (almost 30-50FPS on lowest)

@TheModdedMatt I know that..... I was just trying it to see what would happen. and I lied about my PC shutting down.. I just couldn't do much of anything on the fluid demo and it was just green all over everything... not much else happened.. oh and a lot of lag.

Does NOT work on my Readeon1300 graphics card at all it just makes everything very greenish and when i switch to fluid it shuts my pc DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

that happens on my computer too my compute is a nvidia geforce 9400 1024mb and i have pixel shaders 3 i don't read the other specs though =D

this dosent work on my KFA 8600GT 512MB DDR2 (which i think is dead) or my MSI 9600GT 512MB the smoek dosent appear......... using forceware 181.20
