Produced for Oiwi TV by Kamehameha Publishing and presented in both olelo Hawaii and English, Lau Nehenehe brings to life some of Hawaii's popular children's titles through animation, imagination, sound and story.
No ka Ilio Moo, The Brindled Dog, is the third in a series of traditional Hawaiian stories retold for todays learners. In this bilingual tale, two Kailua farmers are in for a surprise when their foot trek to deliver food to Queen Kaahumanu is interrupted by a mysterious brindled dog. Soon their ordinary journey turns into an amazing tale that shapes the practices of people from the Koolau side of Oahu. This story, part of the Kuuna Series, is presented by Kamehameha Publishing in partnership with Hale Kuamoo Hawaiian Language Center at the University of Hawaii-Hilo.
