IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T WATCH IT.
No criticism at all, I honestly could care less. This is my coach riding, and this is a hard horse to ride, so don't talk, you have no idea. And she is an amazing rider, she has helped me so much with his training, he has improved so much. So for you negative people, if you don't like it, don't watch it. And if you do watch it and don't like it, I DO NOT CARE. So don't go sharing you opinion through comments.
For some reason the end up the video didn't upload, but you get the idea...
STANDARDBREDS CAN!
This is my 9 year old STANDARDBRED Shortie, learning Dressage :)
I have almost owned Shortie for a year, wow that has flown by ! November 21 is a year !
The video is in order from the beginning of the lesson to the end, and even in this lesson you can see how much of a difference there is.
Just so everyone knows, I realize he is behind the vertical as did my trainer, he just got confused when we asked him for a different frame, so we let him to that just because he is learning :)
If you look at my one other video I have on youtube there is another video of Shortie after 2 months, he has changed soooo much. At that point I wasn't intending on using him for much other than pleasure riding, and he was barely even trained, he could hardly trot.... Then my interests shifted, and I have started doing dressage with him , I have only been taking lessons since the summer, probably june/july, but even then I wasn't able to be very consistent with my riding due to lack of riding space at my other barn, so I moved to Los Vientos Equestrian Center recently (september 3rd) and since then, this is what he has turned into ! In just a couple months, consistent work, and being at my trainers barn, he has improved soooooo much , and I couldn't be more proud of him ! He has also gained a TON of weight and is now looking more like a sausage then a horse .... Anyways, this is my Trainer riding him for the first time since our first lesson, and she was happy with how much he has improved under saddle as well :)
sorry about the long and boring video, I very rarely go on youtube, and make videos so when I do they are long and boring, and mostly for friends who don't see Shortie and I very often :)
He does move a lot better at the end! I love standardbreds and trained mine up to 3rd before retiring him. Is he slower though? I noticed she was kicking him nearly every stride? My standardbred was very very forward thinking and my warmblood mare is even more so and wouldn't put up with it, I would just worry it might dull him to the leg. Also a bit too much up and down with the hands but I love the end result on the horses side

@jrmints80 This was a long time ago, and he did not know what leg was at this point. He was not able to move off of it. He is doing much better now, and is starting to get his canter. This is not me riding, as I said. And He was just learning at this point. We have been doing walk/trot dressage tests and at our last show he got 1st on both tests and class high point. He moves off the leg much better now. By the end of August we should be moving up to training level. He is amazing.

Wow, I see an amazing difference since the time you had him at the 4-H show at Heritage. He's looking so good, and gives to hand so willingly. I think that's one of his strong points, he seems to be a really kind horse. Well done !, to you and your trainer, for bringing him along so well !!

Thank youuu ! :) He has so many strong points, everything we ask of him, he does it to the best of his ability with out getting angry, and no matter how hard he is being pushed he still tries his absolute best, I love him so much , I can't even begin to tell you, he is truly amazing! <3
