  • Now, that wink was cute

  • its the new code! .. they have to put so much difficutly in that theres not much time for dance. Although its made the routines more exicting to watch i think its a shame that you don't seem them dancing as much anymore

  • Yes you can still be artistic in the new code. You don't have to be though. I think that works well to be honest. Gymnasts like Nastia Liukin get away with a lower-standard of tumbling by selling their routine, while gymnasts who really do not have a feel for dance don't have to (something that's hard to do for someone who doesn't like to). The recent world gold and silver medalists combined artistry, execution and difficulty (Afansyeva and Sui Lu), so I'd say the code is working.

  • I don't like how women's gymnastics is becoming more like mens. Yes there is dance but it's very much... the minimum requirement. Yes the tumbling is exciting too but I loved seeing women do it. As a kid, I'd come up with little music routines in my head. I respect mens but it doesn't have that same enchanting feel. It's a shame to see the sport losing its Artistry and it is called Women's Artistic :(

  • Hey, a girl at my gym has the same music as Daria Joura :*)

  • Go Daria!!!

    whoooooo!!

  • i know there are very few. but my point was that the new code of points isnt to blame because it CAN be done. when nastia hits her floor its magnificent. and i still wish shed do a back whip into a double pike like khorkina did because it would be so awesome!

  • 100% in agreement! That's exactly what I think!

  • Yes, but they're two of the VERY few. jessd08x agrees with my view. I must admit I didn't count Nastia's floor when I posted the above because I didn't see its beauty--then. I think it was because I'd never seen her perform it healthfully and perfectly. (I've only been following gymnastics in non-Olympic competition recently.) Now, though, I think it's absolutely enchanting, However, hers used to be the norm--now it's an exception. Only she and a few others among dozens can really amaze.

  • the new code of points isnt to blame

    look at nastia's floor routine.

you can still get the difficulty points and have massive artistry to back it all up

  • She retired, I think it was a back problem?
