*WATCH IN 1080p! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCx0-E2zjwI&fmt=37 *

September 10th, 2009. The Wiltern Theater, Los Angeles California. History will remember this as the 830th live performance of Trent Reznor's genius Nine Inch Nails.

Their 830th and, incidentally, final live performance. Although Trent Reznor has vowed to continue making music, whether it be in the vessel of Nine Inch Nails or something completely untried, he has stated time and again that he is done with the live aspect of Nails.

This, the Wiltern performance, was not to be their last but second to last. Because Trent took ill he had to rescedule two of the LA shows, making the Wiltern Theater the last venue Nine Inch Nails would ever play.

So by some stroke of luck/fate/something, I found myself on a plane bound for LA (for the second time in a week) to take witness to this, the most anticipated, and yet dreaded, final NIN performance.

The show was, predictably, the most amazing show I've ever seen. According to antiquit.com, "Reznor and company played thirty-eight songs, in four sets spanning over 3 hours, the longest show the band has ever played." Guests included Gary Numan, Mike Garson, Dillinger Escape Plan, Atticus Ross and Dave Navarro.

This show was the epitome of epic, as you'll be witness to from these videos.

And who knows, maybe it won't be the end at all...

  • I thought it was fantastic - and wish these 2 would merge for a new collection of songs;

  • The guy is great, no doubt, it just seems like hes playing off of the top of his head, and some of it doesn't come out right. Most of the stuff he plays sounds great to go along with the song, but then he like, adds some things that make me cringe a bit. For instance at the end of Just like you imagined, he ends it into a flowing little slow ending, sounded PERFECT then he kind of just, "DUHN DUHN DUHN! DEEDLE DEEEDLE DEEDLE DEEDLE" and it like, killed it for me. I hope that helped understand.

  • What do mean? I could see what you mean. I like it personally but yeah the grand piano might give it a different sound. So yeah if you wanted to see it the way its usually played I could see what you mean. But on the other side it was nice to see it being played a little differently.

  • Legendary!
