Stanton Moore Part 1

In early 2000 at the invitation of myself, Stanton Moore performed a drum clinic at Tom Lee Music in Vancouver. The clinic was set up "in the round" so attendees enjoyed the clinic in a very intimate environment. This is an important series of clips as they provide a reference point in Stanton's career as an educator -an indicator of how his skill and talent as a drummer / educator / motivator has progressed. In this clip Stanton is playing my round badge Gretsch kit, a Dunnett Classic MonoPly snare drum, a 28" vintage Ludwig & Ludwig bass drum (complete with a light source to keep the head tensioned) and Masterwork cymbals.

what does the light source for the bass drum do

@drex48239 The bass drum head is calf skin so in order to keep it taught in the rather humid Vancouver air it required a heat source. That's why we use plastic heads today.

this fregen dumb! dont get me wrong i love all styles and real feel, but the groove is ammmeeeee and the bass drum to the right is just dumb! he is not using it in way that makes real tonal sense
