A video response to an atheist's argument concerning the issue of free speech.

While everyone in society should have the right to engage in intellectual discourse, criticism and debate.
We should be aware of the fact that people have the right to respect and dignity.

Therefore to express something in order for reasons of malice, hate mongering and slander is not only counter-productive of social cohesion, but oppressive to those who voice is weaker in society, and cannot match those whose voice is stronger.

Who would win in a slandering fight between you and Rupert Murdoch? You both and the same 'freedoms' but he has more POWER than you (since he owns SKY channels and newspapers).

The purpose of Rights should be not about what people can do; rather it should be about safeguarding the weak from the strong.

  • no, human beings do not neccesarily desire a dignity for themselves.

  • human nature proves otherwise

  • Your an idiot. In America you can do whatever you want whenever you want. That's why they're building a mosque at ground zero, and that's why I uploaded a video of me burning a Koran on my YouTube channel. There's nothing I can do about your mosque and there's nothing you can do about my video.

  • >Limitation of free speech.

    >Limitation of free

I hope you can see the oxymoron within this statement.

  • I've made my moral views from reading texts too (not religious ones) and i feel that they are a strong part of my identity. People redicule my beliefs all the time in the media and i don't get pissed off about. People can joke about whatever they want. We can redicule philosophy just like we can redicule religion. Stop being so soft.

  • religion is a political subject. It details where power comes from, who holds power, how this power is to be used (reward and punishment), and what this power is to be used for. This is pretty much the definition of politics. I take offence at the way Islam treats women. To force them into death shrouds, treat them as only worth 'half a man's testimony (sharia), and to beat them like an animal. This is worse than playground politics. Will you now stop offending me? I rest my case...

  • Ok the real problem here is 'who determines when something is to be considered as slander?' As an atheist I view all religion in the same way as I would with people professing to believe in Unicorns, Santa Clause, Fairies, etc. I will listen to them but do not have to respect them for their views. However, people both kill and die in the name of religion, not faireis, elfs, unicorns, etc. Respect should be earned - not given freely. You must earn it or lose it.

  • what is treason

  • Though i hav not seen the cartoon, but to project the person of muhamed(the prophet of islam) as pregnant with bomb is highly insensitiv wether or not you believe in islam.I think it is the height of journalistic irresponsibility, and i can understand if the islamic world vehemently condemns it. If they go as far as killing pple on that account then i would say they are not only intolerant but their religion is a threat to a new world order. Peace cant be promoted by avenging every wrong doing.

  • if u push your stupid believes in peoples daily life that is disrespectful towards people (as in special treatment of muslims believes)

  • In judaism and apostolic christianity, apostates are also killed. But in Islam, it is not apostasy, but treason that is punished by death.

  • It has already been done in a children's illustrated story book on the life of Muhammed (saw), though Muslims would not desire Muhammed (saw) to be depicted in any picture, no offense was taken by any Muslim.

As I said, actions are taken in the manner and intent in which they are given.

btw- I assume your are jewish? thanks for the profile comment. :)
