Wait... the monster lived... this is good, but nothing like the book, or even the later movies, which were ridiculous, except Mary Shelly's Frankenstein movie.
It's about Frankenstein's good / evil nature. His evil nature is what makes the monster bad, and the good nature he shows by the love for his bride is what overcomes the monster. The monster's evil is frozen in the mirror. Frankenstein sees his own evil in that image. They both fade; Frankenstein has won his internal battle.
In the novel, the monster rips her head off and rapes her corpse; the moral there is a bit more complicated. Or maybe Edison ran out of film.
Well, London After Midnight is kind of famous for being lost, but from what I've heard it's not all THAT great of a movie. I think the best Lon Chaney movie has to be The Unknown. Now THAT'S a creepy movie.
I wonder how this flick affected people back then? Can you imagine what they would think if one could bring them to the present? I read once that when people were watching one of the first movies ( Which was simply a train coming into a station. As the train neared, several people ran out of the tent screaming thinking that the train was actually going to come threw the screen!

Nice effect when they make the monster though.
