yea the DOHC engines have a habit of getting loose from sitting for a while ... start it and let it run then check it.. if its still loose get a new belt tensioner .
-
As has been said before ....that is normal if it has been standing for a while. start it and will tighten right up.
-
So did yu get a new hydro tensioner??
-
turn it over for a sec and see how much slack is in it then.
-
ITS NORMAL!!!

I'm expecting to have the motor out of the car tonight, it's just about ready to pull now. The plan is to use the motor for my VR4 with 0psi compression in the front bank, and sell the rest of the car. I will be replacing all timing parts and a few other things.

I picked up the car after someone else wrecked it, so I don't know the history. I've heard of people replacing the belt, but not the tensioner...so I'd guess that's what happened and it's a collapsed tensioner.
I'd heard there should be some play in this area, but this seemed excessive.
