A lot of Vaughan William's choral music is actually pretty reminiscent of Gregorian Chant (like his phrase structure, use of open fifths, long phrases on one syllable) so I think his interpretation is appropriate. If you ask me, does a very nice job :)

RVW is my favourite of all the British composers - his Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis trul remarkable.
