Raw Video: Small Plane Flips on Landing

A small airplane made a dramatic landing on Wednesday afternoon in the Colombian city of Villavicencio after a strong wind current took the aircraft off the tarmac and flipped it upside down. (Jan. 30)

High, fast, well down the runway and trying to force the wheels on the ground. There should have been a voice in his head screaming, GO AROUND, GO AROUND.

It looks like he over-braked in an attempt to make a turn-off. Since they don't show how much runway was remaining, it's hard to know why he would have done this, unless he was just in a huge hurry for some reason and trying to get into the FBO as quickly as possible.

I guess he forgot about the rudder and just went stright to braking hard with both insead of using the right one to keep the nose straight. He almost had it, but it looks like he just panicked and jammed both brakes to stop instead of keeping it straight. Who knows what really happened. I have had several landings in cessnas and lost a brake. Touch it once and it's fine. Touch it the second time and it goes to nothing.
