My first 8mm to digital conversion features a sample of scenes filmed by my Dad and includes the Chicago Railroad Fair, CA&E, Hiawatha, CRL&P, OVE, B&O and Pennsy. The tall blonde kid you see occasionally, is me.

  • Loved the Milwaukee Road!! Can you post more of the streamlined Baltics on the Hiawatha? Man I was born too late...

  • @MUEagle2002 Wish I could. What you see ehere is all I have on that subject.

  • What is the soundtrack to this

  • @trainboy94 I don't know. It was some safe non-copyrighted music I picked up somewhere.

  • This is really wonderful stuff. It's sad that Columbus Ohio once had street cars, and now they are talking about getting them back or some sort of light rail, at a cost of perhaps billions of dollars. It is refreshing to see silent footage that hasn't been ruined by crappy heavy metal "music"

  • re "crappy heavy metal music", i prefer to use crappy hillbilly music with lots of harmonicas, although not everyone likes that. Watch out though, I might just sneak in some Iron Maiden one of these days :)

  • Your dad was awesome for filming this video. Thank you for posting on YouTube.

  • nice but too bad it could not have been made 'lighter' to view...:)

  • Wonderful time travel! Glad it's preserved.

  • Great films. Look at the difference in the way the kids are dressed. In the fifties we were all prim and proper. Now our kids and grandchildren dress in a more free style of clothing. And the ladies in house dresses, and men with hats. It brings back nice memories. Thanks.

  • Really great, wonderful stuff! I (very loosely) model the Rock Island in HO, I posted a video response featuring a Pennsy T1, which I recognized in this video. Also saw the Rock FT in the Chicago RR Fair video, thanks again!

  • wonderful ! in those days all the men wores these crazy hats that never seem to come off........glad they're out of fashion today in 2010 .
