Did you do re-jetting? I have the same bike and my mechanic tells me that the K&N air filter actually allows too much air flow to get the carbs jetted properly.

it's really not difficult to rejet carburetor, you need only to change jets, springs and noodles and adjust it, all you need: motorcycle instruction and jet kit instruction.

Your bike sounds great. I just got a 2001. I bought the V&H longshots and the jet system. Did you keep the baffles in your pipes? How difficult was it to rejet. Any tips
