This is a sound collage poem by Delia Derbyshire, from the 5-piece suite "The Dreams" (1964), composed in collaboration with Barry Bermange, who recorded the "dream narations" later spliced and collaged in accordance to a theme: "Running", "Falling", "Land", "Sea" and "Colour".

  • @Jarren202 That's not entirely true :) Barry Bermange gave them topics to talk about & a lot of it was scripted. But .. & I quote Dick Mills here: "Delia could get a Rhythm out of the Phraseology of the speech; Barry Bermange would never have repeated certain phrases here & there. Delia picked up on each of those character's rhythms & juxtaposed them to create music out of voices just like she did hitting a lap-shade". This IS Music. It's just too advanced for ppl to understand yet.

  • @Jarren202 lets give some credit to the photographer who strapped himself to a buffalo in order to get this amzing shot.

  • I had an auto accident when I was 17....spun into a ravine. The distention of time felt like this. This freaks me the fuck out. I love it.

  • It reminds me of my accident...

    Beautifully spooky.

  • @audiocarp Nightmares and dreams in general. It's fascinating to hear how people have such similar patterns in their dreams.

Delia's music in this is fantastic, but credit must also be given to Barry Bermange. He recorded and manipulated the voices in this project.

  • Any idjeet can get something musical out of keyboard, but, this stuff takes real effort.

Is the spoken word part people describing their nightmares?

  • The keyboard was a death nail to electronic music. Hopefully, a ferocious, friendly entity will come along someday and pull it out.

  • fantastic upload,,i really enjoyed it
