that kid is pretty good, you gotta start somewhere, i'll admit i ain't that great i did train MMA for a while but i never enjoyed MMA there was no honor in it, Aikido is fascinating and can't wait till i start

It's designed to teach movement and foot position more than the actual move itself.
Similar to asking why to most martial arts teach roundhouse kicks or flying jump kicks. Those are both very impracticable in a fight.
