pt.2 Kashmir woman files rape case against 4 L.e.T. men

Bhaderwah, Kashmir: In one of the first cases of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir, a woman has registered a rape case against four Lashkar militants, including a district commander.

Shano Begum, a resident of Bhaderwah is a mother of 3 and claims she was raped three times in August by the Laskar militants.

She was five months pregnant at that time. But Shano gathered the courage to take on dreaded militants after one of the accused was arrested by the police last week.

Her move is being hailed as extremely courageous especially when her family is passing through a tough phase.

Shano Begum has since been provided security cover.

For now Begum walks around with security, aware of the risk she has taken and also aware that many women like her would draw some courage out of this incident.

Poor woman. India cannot allow such crimes against women. The militant responsible should be hanged. I commend Indian govt for raising the strength of the women police force. We need more women in the police and indeed the Indian army. We can never bow down against militants and terrorists. The doors of negotiations within the Indian constitution is always open.
