Lake Placid, Florida Murals

If you drive along US 27 in Central Florida, you'll drive through the Town of Lake Placid.

Known as the "Caladium Capital of the World" and as the "Town of Murals," Lake Placid is Located just 100 miles south of Orlando in Highlands County Florida.

When in the area, stop for a while and view over forty murals painted on the sides of buildings around town.

Some of the murals have sound as well.

Some of the Decorative trash containers sprinkled throughout town also have sound as well as at least one with working lights.

You'll also find 27 freshwater lakes in the area to enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming as well as play and picnic areas.

If you are a geocacher, you can hunt for caches as you view this attractive little town.

true, aslo sadly the sound and special effects on most of them has been disabled. even the one near the train station. remember when the lights used to light up and a train would sound if a car ever drove by that mural?

I lived in Lake Placid from 1984 until 1998 and remember when most of these were painted. They really are beautiful in person and worth taking the time to stop and see them all. Great video.. thanks for sharing!
