Davros mask Doctor Who Light test

This is one of the Davros masks i make. The footage here is the silicone light fitting being tested. Note that because this is a test,the mask is in the pre-paint stage, just undercoated.

The light was constructed using speaker wiring, a small battery box with an on/off switch and a super blue LED.
The visible part of the light was made in clay and then a mold was made from that. The mold was then filled with clear silicone which was intrinsically pre-dyed with an opaque deep blue pigment.
The LED was soldered to the wiring and battery unit, then the LED was pushed into the silicone before it was set to seal and hide the soldering work.
The light is removeable from the mask so that a non lit version can be fitted if preferred.
I will be offering a limited amount of these masks for sale soon with the light unit included.

Was this at Milton Keynes by any chance? If so, that was us with a couple of the unlit versions, and we had 1 lit version there too.

There are only 2 Davros masks left now which are the final ones i will be doing. These need painting and the light units adding so they will be ready in the next week or two. I have been so busy making stuff for the Collectormania convention recently but i PROMISE to post footage of the next finished one with the light fitted.

Looks great bud, have a look at the ood i've just done, adding lights to stuff isn't easy but it adds to the coolnes factor!

Hiya mate, yeh i saw your Ood on the Millennium forum last week. Very good. I bet your lad is well pleased. I just got back from Collectormania 13 in Milton Keynes where we had a finished one of these on display. Ian (Proffessor Piehead) is a good friend and kindly came down to help out. I would love to do an Ood myself but i try to keep away from current characters on the masks i sell. Great for your son though!

I have 8 of these that need painting, then there will be no more. I retired the mold. These 8 will be the only ones that have the light unit fitted and they are £70 each including UK shipping. I only made 17 from this mold so they will always be rare. With all the recent speculation of a possible return of Davros, i won't be selling these while he is a current character and upsetting the programme makers.

My masks are made because i love creating them and they are all carefully hand made.

ime saving up its my bday in august 28th will they be gone by then? and ime thinking of being davros for halloweeen then stuffing the costume and keeping it in my room to impress mates :)is it suitible for a halloween costume

is this the davros mask from the really old series or series 4 ?
