Rugby league was better in those days ... winter season, proper tours, GB not England playing, players having to last a whole game, ref's call final ... and no stupid nicknames.

i agree with you MG3AEH, its like my old man says "there was rugby league now there's super league", there are so many differences its unrecognisable. Look at props like Bella,Ward,Broadhurst,Tamati,Sorensen etc, 80mins solid graft. Now its 20min bursts if that.

RL has gone backwards as a product, the game in those days was far more pleaseing on the eye. Not like the touch and pass style of one man "super fast" style that dominates today's game..!

What a day!! On my way to the game i got on a coach of rovers fans to show them to the nearest pub to Thrum Hall.They gave me some stick but it was all good fun.Wish i`d of seen them after.
