This is a basic overview on removing the front body panel section from a 2008 smart fortwo. It might help you out if you and a friend are thinking about working on something under the front section. Tools you should have - a T-25 and T-30 Torx tip driver. A small Nail puller or mini "Wonder Bar" I also suggest you check out the printed instructions for side skirt removal and front panel removal on evilution.co.uk before you start. The removal should not take more than about 20 or 25 minutes tops. But, don't rush. It could lead to a mistake, breaking a part or scratching something. Have fun.

  • Thanks!!

  • @Aronbr your welcome... what inspired you to have to take off the front body section of your smart?... oh are you going to the smart event in North Carolina in September? outsmart the dragon.. in Deals Gap?

  • @smartcarfor2 To inset the black bottom 'plastic' from the sides, was a nightmare... I didn't knew I could take the white holders out, so I put them in line and slided the part..... Took me 30 min just to do it... Any idea how to take out the door panel??

  • @Aronbr What year is your smart? there is a uK web site called evilution that has the directions on taking the door panels off. If you have a 451 *newer version* its pretty easy, i've had mine off 3 times already. I never did the older verison 450.. but go to that web site it has lots of great stuff on it.

  • @smartcarfor2 Hi! Well, I wish I could go to the event, but I am just a little far... I live in Brazil... I had to (tried to...) took it out because of the sports tow hook I put in the front, and I dont know why, but my car is different from the americans (may be european, I dont know...), so I needed to put an extention to the hook, so it could be in place. A lot of work, and as I finished I discovered a toll I have, that coud have saved me all the work....
