Online and yearly sales of the Metcard are to be phased out at the start of 2012, with the full change to Myki by the end of 2012. To sweeten the deal, the price to buy the Myki card has been cut from $10 to $6, and the $9.95 administration fee to be waived. However this saving will be immediately eaten up in fare increases from January 1 2012. And still, no word on how interstate and international visitors can purchase temporary Myki passes. As reported on Channel 10 5pm evening news, 22 December 2011.
How the hell are tourists expected to board trains? Myki still doesn't even run on freaking Vline. Pathetic.
