Yoshimori and Roxas were childhood friends. They both eventually developed romantic feelings for each other, but were too scared to risk their friendship by telling one another. Despite this, Roxas and Yoshimori remained good friends.

However, things started to change for them once junior high school happened. Before, they went to school together, but now went to entirely different schools altogether; Roxas went off to Himetsubaki Middle School and Yoshimori stood in his zoned area's school, Karasumori Middle School. It was at Himetsubaki that Roxas met Manabe Tomoyoshi, a rebellious "heretic" in his class. Eventually, Roxas befriends the socially inept student. Within time, the two start dating.

One day, Roxas drags Manabe from school to meet Yoshimori. When Roxas introduces him as his boyfriend, Yoshimori can't help but feel suddenly overwhelmed. Though he forces himself to be happy for Roxas, he actually feels jealous. After that day, Yoshimori slowly becomes distant from Roxas, the jealousy and tension becoming more apparent.

Noticing this, Roxas decides to confront Yoshimori. He asks what Yoshimori's problem is in an angry tone. Though Yoshimori is surprised by Roxas' aggression, he starts to reply with sarcastic remarks, stating that he's "ecstatic" for Roxas and Manabe. Roxas is shocked, knowing already that Yoshimori isn't usually the type to resort to sarcasm.

Yoshimori goes on to tell him that he's "happy" that Roxas has found somebody like Manabe, who *surely* can treat him right. He also says that in spite of everything, he's still a friend to Roxas, which is also said in heavy sarcasm. After Yoshimori makes his leave, Roxas is left with a mixture of emotions, being angry, confused and overall, hurt.

The next few days after Yoshimori shot Roxas down with his sarcasm, Roxas starts to think about what went wrong. He realizes that Yoshimori saw him as a love interest, and is extremely saddened by the way he ignored Yoshimori's feelings up until now. Roxas knows now that it may be too late, and he can't do anything about it anymore. Yoshimori has already left his life.
