Tech 21 SansAmp PARA DRIVER DI: Bass

Here's # 3 of my series for this very versatile DI/StompBox/Preamp. I've simply demonstrated the four suggested settings from the PARA DRIVER DI user manual, and given them a little tweak here and there. You'll see (and hear) both distorted and clean bass sounds.

The PARA DRIVER DI ran direct to the computer via an M-Audio ProFire 610 interface.

Yeah, yeah, I know I'm a crap bass player but I don't think we can disguise the fact that the SansAmp PARA DRIVER DI is a fantastic box for bass and acoustic guitar and electric guitar.

The bass is a Chinese P-Bass copy, made at least 5 years ago by a company called Monterey. They were selling here in Australia for around $250 if I remember correctly. It does the job OK (better than me!) I imagine the PDDI would sound even better with a decent quality instrument in front of it.

Im still trying to figure out what this is? Does DI mean direct ? You can plug in to this and then go direct into a studio mixing board , with out seting up an amp. But it will sound like you pluged into a nice tube amp ? Is that what it does ?

Can I have a question?

If just for bass sounds tuning and controlling in live performance, is it good to use "para driver" or "bass driver"? what differents between them?

@wailapwong The PDDI has a variety of applications. I use it *always* as an acoustic DI, but I know of many who use it as a SansAmp to simulate guitar amps as well. It does the lot and does it well. I can't comment on the Bass Driver unfortunately as I haven't tried it. Cheers and Merry Christmas. :)

since its a DI, you put it at the end of a pedal board to get a balanced line out correct? is that what you do? ive seen many saet ups where its not at the end..........also, does it do the function of preamp?
