A lot of people think the Windows user interface is horrible on a touch screen. They say the keyboard is too cramped or the scrollbars are too small to touch. This video shows how easy the Windows 7 Touch interface actually is.

  • Only throwing out my opinion on one of the issues. Know many will disagree. The problem with desktop operating system's virtual keyboards on tablets is that it gets in the way of the program your using as shown. It doesn't help that text shown in this example is EXTREMELY small that it makes me wonder how you'd get anything done.

  • @zc456 Actually, you can dock the keyboard to the bottom/top of the screen and instead of overlapping your regular programs, it will push them above the keyboard, thus not getting in the way. This works best in Portrait view.

  • Let me put it like this: If a Windows 7 tablet PC is the first tablet a person tries, I can completely understand why that person would think to him- og herself: "Ehm, why would I ever want THIS over a traditional net book with a real keyboard and touch pad?".

Putting a desktop OS on a tablet, and then adding a "touchfriendly" layer on top of it, just about kills everything that's good about a genuine tablet computer.

  • @larspallesen That makes no sense at all. Windows 7 Tablet PCs do have real keyboards and touch pads in addition to the multi-touch screen and even Wacom digitizer in this case. Other tablet computers also add their own touch-friendly layers on top of other OS's. What's the difference?

  • Looks way too awkward. Sorry but the iPad kills this.

  • @Masterhomer Which part is awkward? You touch the buttons with your finger, exactly like the iPad.

  • scratch off one "thumbs down", i really meant "thumb up"!

  • @zc456 You can make the on-screen keyboard transparent.

  • surprise! people on the internet have misconceptions!

  • @6047254459 You probably didn't get the right tablet for you. It doesn't sound as it you need a full OS.

  • how are the other browsers besides IE on the touch UI???? I hate using IE and hope all the touch features will work with Chrome!

    Thanks

  • @burgundyyears *on-screen keyboard

  • Wow. Those gestures are laggy as all get out compared to a fast Android or iOS device. That on-screen borders on useless for productive work. Not impressive at all.

  • @duganator100 It depends on what you need it to do. Windows Tablet PCs can still run real productivity applications like Office 2010. And if you're an artist, it can also run the real Adobe Creative Suite 5 including the 64-bit AfterEffects, Premiere, and Photoshop.
