I now in the same condition. I have received a rice paper two days ago. Before 4 months drew only on the newspaper. Rice - absolutely other song. It is terrible even. How for a long time you are engaged in the Chinese painting?

When I first tried rice paper, I had the feeling that I had been loosing my time before, because it is so different! You must learn now to control the amount of water in your brush, it is extremely important. Try to paint with very little water loaded in it. I used to deep the brush into water. Nothing worse than that. I have been engaged in Chinese painting since October 2007 (1 year and 3 months), but very relaxed. Maybe I paint during 1week and stop painting 2months. Take it easy, good luck!
