The barbary lion is coming from Morocco, after the Berbers (inhabitants of Morocco) drifted them away, they went down south and spreaded somewhere in middle Africa. Furthermore, in the 19th century there was also a dry period in Morocco causing the lions to travel to the more tropical south. So this lions are of Berber origin, or as people may know it these days they are of Moroccan origin.

BarbarianLion: O.K. I believe you, this Lion is extinct. I thought that there are some in zoos worldwide. What you said is sad.

@hoyfanofboulder I have studied them and it depended on the Lion; just like it depends on the Tiger. In Roman times, the Barbary Lion dominated tigers and bears. The pure un-tainted bloodline Barbary (Barbarian) Lions were on average 620 pounds and got up to 760-210 pounds but they weren't slow, but they were 2 times if not more than the tigers. Human contact and habitat destroying and hunting I guess killed off the Majestic Barbarian Lion

@tonyfressola There are no more Barbary (Barbarian) Lions. The pure blooded ones are extinct. There are no more 100% Barbary Lions left today inthe world. They were all killed off. I'ts been said that there is still one in Morocco.
