I made my first foray back into competitive bowling last weekend at the WCT (West Coast Tournaments) event at my home center, Kenmore Lanes, where I have bowled for 10+ years.

The WCT is a local bowler's tour that holds monthly scratch bowling events around the greater Seattle area and attracts a lot of really good competition.

This video shows some highlights from the grueling tournament, which was 8 games total pins, with a cut to the top 3 for the finals. They paid the top 5 spots... and I finished 6th with a 212 average.

It was a strike-fest all day on this house shot, and although I didn't miss ANY single pin spares the whole tournament, I just didn't strike enough down the stretch to earn a check.

Overall it was a good experience for me to get back out there, I just had one bad game that took me out of the running.

Balls used: Roto-Grip Pluto (games 1-6) and Morich Weapon of Mass Bias (7-8).

I am crossing pairs with Tournament Director Steve Skriniski and former WCT champion Dave Korinek.

Oh yeah... my real name is Tim Watanabe, but if you found this video knowing me through bowling, you probably already knew that ;)

  • how do u like that weapon of mass bias? i was thinking of getting one

  • @TheMusicjuice I definitely recommend it. It was my first Morich ball and the core they used in that ball flips extremely hard on the right condition, you can really see it rev up going downlane. The company has a reputation for making balls that don't hit hard, but I haven't found that to be the case with the WOMB. It was drilled strong with the pin over the ring finger, out 3" from PAP I think. Although its old by now it will be all you need on today's house conditions.

  • What hurt more: leaving the 7-10, or leaving a solid eight?

  • oooh... they both felt like a sucker-punch to the stomach... but in terms of the situation the solid 8 hurt more. That happened in game 6 when i was trying to come back from the 163 game and get into contention and I had a chance to strike out for a 240+ game going into the 9th frame and threw one of the better shots of the tournament and got raped. Really took the wind out of my sails. I would have been within pins of the money had I carried that hit.

  • god you love bowling

  • @kaynine1995

Yes I do! I dreamed of going professionally for a while, and then reality struck - compared to what the pros can do, I'm really not that good :/
