Built in greater quantities than any other US fighter, the P-47 was the heaviest single-engine WWII fighter to go into production and the first piston-powered fighter to exceed 500 mph. The Thunderbolt performed 546,000 combat sorties between March of 1943 and August 1945 and is considered the real forerunner of today's multirole fighters.

  • i need to do my homework

  • i guess

  • @TheBaseball145 what about HAWX?

  • @TheBaseball145 Blazing Angels comes close.

  • I wish there was a flying game with that good of graphics.

  • @torque2802

thats how the german ace of north africa died. He had engine trouble and when he bailed, he hit the vertical stabiliser

  • @MrLolx2u The P-51 was a ballerina, the P-47 was a gladiator. The P-51 finished things off quicker, didn't fight as down and dirty, but that is what was needed for the bomber escort she was designed for. The 47 on the other hand was designed as a fighter, she fought to the death even when half of her components were shredded. They both did what they were designed to do, and very well, especially with the pilots that flew them.

  • @torque2802 I am sure it happened alot, especially with the 262 pilots. Ouch. Once on Dogfights a BF-109 pilot bailed out at like 30 feet and bounced almost over the wing of his bird.

  • any1 else notice the 4th me109 pilot that bailed out hit the tail of his aircraft? it shouldnt be funny but somehow i am laughing :P

  • @MrLolx2u at low and medium heights the jug could not mix it up with tke P51 or the Spit or the FW, without a good pilot on the stick.
