Riding San Francisquito Canyon, I love this road! Years ago I discovered this road with a friend and at the time, there were boulders lining the sides of the road and then there was the "tombstone" the center part of the dam that was the last to go down, all that stuff laid there for years until the county decided to clean up the place. Now, there's practically no evidence of a dam at all. This whole area was filled with water in the late 20's, it was Mulholland's downfall.

  • The section that got washed out a few years ago used to be fun (the old route is just before the stop sign at 2:15), but the bypass has it charms (you can go really fast!). That was also the section that brought you closest to the dam debris. I think they finished cleaning it out at the time they created the bypass (may have used the old concrete to create gravel for the new road bed).
