Guys, I think I can finally put the whole 'is that spacey on the phone?' debacle to rest. I think it's Fincher himself. An educated guess is that they released a version with Fincher doing John Doe to throw people off realising Spacey is the killer. Don't hold me too this but I am fairly certain it's him.

@WeaponXXIV true although i have to say the sloth victim scene it the most horrific thing ive ever seen ever
-
@ghostdog2041 I wouldn't call that a murder--I'd call that a crime of passion with extremely, extremely extenuating circumstances. No jury would ever convict Mills of murder
-
David Fincher's voice is creepier than Kevin Spacey's
-
@WeaponXXIV indeed

I think it's fascinating that they both talked about the violence of the film. You really don't see quite as much as you might think you do and there is only one on-screen murder and it's NOT commited by the villain.

@sparkyinbath AND why he did no interviews to promote the film
-
@peterwantspie it's not. same reason why spaceys name is omitted from the opening credit sequence.

I like your nick.

Yes, there are 'graphic' depictions of the crime scenes, but you never actually see the murders and torture. Half of Gene's reason, for the NC-17 comment, is due to the psychological effect that the film has.
