Aside from taking fire, I think one of the most crucial things to take into account is that the Baghdad shooting was only one Private Security Detail out of 16,000.
If what critic Elijah Cummings said is true - that Blackwater has had nearly 200 escalation of force incidents - barely 1% of Blackwater's missions actually went haywire.
For a company tasked with protecting diplomats that had hundreds of thousands of dollars placed on their heads by insurgents, I think 1% is pretty impressive.
