Turkey.......a modern Muslim country with all the trappings of a society in flux. I will focus on food and walking the streets and market places in the next few videos.

Taksim Square location here

Why Istanbul Todd? Cause I felt like it! Join me for a week in Istanbuls Taksim square and surrounding markets and sea shore areas.

The former capital of three successive empires, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman, Istanbul today honors and preserves the legacy of its past while looking forward to a modern future.

It is Istanbul's endless variety that fascinates its visitors. The museums, churches, palaces, grand mosques, bazaars and sights of natural beauty seem innumerable.

Right on the western shore of the Bosphorus at sunset contemplating the red evening light reflected in the windows of the opposite shore you may suddenly and profoundly understand why so many centuries ago settlers chose to build on this strategic site. At such times you can see why Istanbul is truly one of the most amazing cities in the world.

  • @APOKALYPSE34 That's my job.................. make people hungry :) that witch I lure them into an appreciation of another culture.

  • You should've waited a month or two to visit Istanbul. In the summer, thats when its the most beautiful and crowded. There's a huuuge difference, damn I almost couldn't recognize Istanbul in your videos, because in the summers there's soo much people and tourists and alot more shops and foodplaces on the streets, I love it!

  • @dasherhead I am sure you are right but I had a limited budget and only a certain week to go due to work. Maybe next time but I kinda like going a little off season.

  • nice video! did you move to Turkey?

  • @CircuitEnable No.... had the trip planed long before the quake. Just a week to chill before I go back to work in Japan. I am not leaving Japan anytime soon :P

  • Istanbul is most liveable city of the world. If you stay here more than one year , you can't leave , you feel like lost one half of your heart.

  • Beyond excellent video! Darling wife.

  • Nice video. Just I payed attention for something it said on video. Turkey shares borders with 3 major Middle Eastern countries like Iran, Iraq and Syria yes.And that is on the south east Turkey , nevertheless as entirity of all country though. So no, its not exactly a middleeastern country . Western World calls that for some reason:) But the opening of the info is good.." Turkey..a modern Muslim country" sounds more reasonable:) and Istanbul is an example for that

  • ugh..watching this video makes me feel so bad...if only i had a first world country passport, i could have gone out of the airport and seen all these lovely sights..

  • i was stuck in transit for almost 12 hours in istanbul back in high school on our way back from germany...i couldn't get a visa to get out of the airport but my american friends did..but they decided against leaving the rest of us behind who hold "third world country passports"..

  • awesome vid.. i wonder whats the job market like over there and cost of living... havent heard much of turkey at all

  • OH. MY. GOD. I. LOVE. THESE. ISTANBUL. ADVENTURES. OF. YOURS!!
